Classroom Chair and Table Height Guide
It is important to ensure your pupils are sitting at the right height chairs and tables as this will:

  • Maximise attention span within the classroom
  • Promote good posture
  • Maximise user comfort
  • Aid skeletal development

We would personally recommend following this formula when looking to purchase your tables and chairs:

We would stress measuring before placing an order as returns are subject to fees set out by our suppliers and can become costly.

It is important to note that if you are purchasing new chairs, but using pre-existing tables, the height of your tables will be the deciding factor on what size chairs you require.

Popular Terminology

One Piece Chairs - Classroom chairs manufactured completely from polypropylene. The benefit of this design is to prevent rocking and leaning back on 2 legs in the classroom.



4 Leg Chairs - Classic style classroom chairs with 4 robust metal legs.

Skidbase Chair - These chairs feature sledge-like frames and benefits of this include the protection of flooring, and complete inability to rock.

Seat Height - The measurement between the floor and the seat of the chair

Table Height - The measurement between the floor and the table top


MDF Edge - The most popular and economic edging on classroom table tops. Hardwearing and practically impossible to destroy, these edges are made from bullnose MDF.


PVC Edge - These edges are durable, smooth and available in a range of colours. Permanent edging with squared corners.



Spray PU Edge - Hardwearing and protective textured edging available in a range of colours. Rounded corners.


Fully Welded - A term that is used a lot to describe the style of frame on a classroom table.

These tables have straight frames and typically do not stack in the traditional sense. It is only possible to stack them spirally.


Crush Bent - A term that is used a lot to describe the style of frame on a classroom table.

These tables have edges that poke out, allowing the tables to stack one on top of the other.
